Oh, how sad! I hope it was insured.... not that, that will be of any real comfort; some things are priceless. So sorry!

Yeah, well...we knew it was coming. Last time my husband spoke to his mom, she mentioned that she had sent them. Meaning SHE had sent them. Already. No getting them back for a professional packaging.

So, we braced ourselves to receive the package of mosaics; it was still a shock, though, to unpack so many bits and pieces.

Count it a good lesson in letting go of the treasures this world has to offer...

Wow. I'm so sorry. Glad you were at least a little mentally prepared--but being forced to let go of some things can still hurt.

So sorry. Sometimes things happen, I know, but we don't have to like it! They look like they were so pretty.

How did that one cup and saucer make it???

Oh, my heart is aching... at least you have the one piece intact, as far as I can see! What a treasure THAT is! :) (((GB)))

I'm so sorry this happened, but now that it has--you mentioned mosaics. I have a friend who does craft projects out of broken china. I'm not sure exactly how this works. But you need broken pieces of china (got that!) and some sort of cement mixture. You can make a table top, a picture--she made a small cross, 5X7 ish for one of my daughters when she was born.

Just a thought.

You know, you really should use the pieces to do a nice mosaic piece! It can be a new heirloom to pass on to your daughters.

And hey...that set that survived is even MORE special now, isn't it?!?

At least one very pretty cup and saucer survived the trip! It is a beautiful piece too!

I think the one cup and saucer that made it was made of a bit thicker material. It wasn't the most delicate piece, but you're right--now is the most precious one.

And Walkmom...thanks for the idea of the mosaic crosses! I've seen those, but wouldn't have thought of it myself. A perfect keepsake for the girls. :)

Oh my.

But I have to say...mosaics will redeem the heart ache. :)
