Hopefully that will all change now that she and her sisters are back where they ought to be. There is something about having less and sharing and serving one another that bonds siblings for the better.
This was a funny redo. We let Fifi take the lead in choosing the look of the room. If it had been me? Pink gingham...everywhere. I love pink gingham. Or yellow gingham. What did I expect Fifi to choose? English Ivy and eyelet and doilies and lace. Imagine my surprise when she decided upon lime green! I was very skeptical, but I think she chose well. It turned out very nice and accommodated many accent colors (which was what I was after in the first place).
We had a budget for the redo...what?...no we didn't! Husband just trusts me not to hurt us too much. I really did a lot of "hunting and gathering," which I despise, and I am so glad it's over. My favorite cheap-cuts: the headboard for each bed was cut from one piece of MDF to which I stapled batting and...can you guess?...canvas! Canvas! Everywhere canvas! So versatile. Anyway, the princess and castle pictures are painted MDF board with ribbon and $13.00 worth of applique I found at the do-it-yourself store one day. The dresser is a salvage piece from Grandpa's house -- the story is it used to belong to my dad. He doesn't remember it, but that's the story and I'm sticking with it.
Here's some pics of the redo and then a YouTube of the reaction...

And the big reveal:

It's lovely to see three georgeous ladies, especially when they are delighted.
The room is beautiful.
What a lovely video! It's great to see your daughters so happy and so joyful! The bedroom is beautiful!
Thank you so much for your kind words about my Grandparents's photos!
PS. I also have a twin sister.
How FUN to see their reactions.....so so girly! :-)
Too cute! May they always be that joyful in that room. I imagine the make-over shows on t.v. would love to get that enthusiastic of a reaction. Good job!
Thanks for visiting my house! I am blessed with a husband who loves yard work. But he also loves to water and I am always wishing he wouldn't water so much - so expensive! But otherwise it'd be brown!
Please come de-clutter my house on your day off....
;-)
Isn't it nice when your children react so positively to our efforts to bless them? The room is beautiful.
What great kids and great reactions, just like being on Trading Spaces or Extreme Makeover Home Addition.
That is so cool! and this is exactly how I hope I get when God answers prayers!
i love this! so sweet, and thank you for the great instructions on linking!!
You are my hero. Having my kids to share a room would so not get a joyful reaction.
I've never considered that the fact they don't relate well could be because they have their own rooms. Good lesson.
The room looks great. Way to go Fifi!
Truly brought tears to my ears when I watched the video...how sweet their joy is, how pure!
Thank you for sharing that!
What a precious video!! I love the reactions of your girls.
First time to your site ... came from Everyday Mommy's site.
I don't blog at present but I enjoy reading a few!

The room is great. I absolutely love the girls reaction to it though. I'm sure that made all the work worth it. How wonderful.
I can't imagine the girly reaction, as I only have boys. They'd probably say "cool" and thats about it. W
Sw-ee-t! I got teary watching their gratitude. They felt like princesses in their new room. TOo precious.
I have had only boys(6 of'em) and like the other blogger, I'm sure the only reaction would be.."cool, mom."
Blessings!

Oh, God led me here today. My tween has been wanting that exact color in her room. Can you tell me where you found the beding? If you have the paint color and number, I would love to have that too. I have been wanting to surprise her just like this. Her reaction will be just like your oldest! Just taking it all in. Very sweet.
