In this election year, we must remember to know the enemy because neither positive thinking nor rainbows; not butterflies; not flowers; not even gifted orators flying throught the air on pretty unicorns will keep us safe from the enduring threat.

And to accentuate the somber tone of the day...Barber's Adagio for Strings...love it!
Thank you for remembering!

We must never forget...

Seconding Sandra, Barber's Adagio for Strings is one of the most beautiful, moving pieces ever written, and very appropriate for today. It's been a long time since I heard it, and I'm staying on your blog at least long enough to hear the whole thing. :)
There were no words that day. They were too simple, too plain, too "not enough" to express ourselves as we all watched the horror.....
You are so very right. We can't ever forget.
Please see the following link for an artistic rendition of the gifted orator you are probably referring to, unicorn and all (sorry I am pasting it, don't know how to do a comment link)

I don't think he's gifted at all without a teleprompter though.
I just finished reading "Firefight" by Newman and Creed about the Pentagon on 9/11 and the week or so after.
I also HIGHLY recommend "Touching History:the Untold Story of the Drama That Unfolded in the Skies Over America on 9/11" by Lynn Spencer. The second is a mesmerizing story of how the aviation people shut down the commercial skies and got them patrolled. Awesome stories in the books both personal and patriotic.
Made me proud again to be living in this great country.

Hey I meant with "again" STILL proud to be an American! As in over and over and over. . .
