She's actually my step-grandmother, but everyone calls her "Tia," which means "Aunt" in Spanish. She came here from Costa Rica 20 years ago to marry my widowed grandfather, and she faithfully loved him to his death over a decade ago.
She's a lady who laughs easily, gives generously, and is very sure that we're all going to be speaking Spanish in Heaven because it, of course, is the most beautiful of the romance languages.
It was a long, hard road, but she aced the test last Saturday and was due to be sworn in today. Gas prices and other logistics kept us from witnessing this momentous occasion in the flesh, but we praise the Lord for His provision for her today and...
We salute your achievement, Tia Eli!
We love you!

Oh that is just wonderful! I love hearing these stories. I love seeing the swearing in process. Such proud faces on the new citizens. This is a great shot you made to welcome her to citizenship. :)
Well Congratulations! That's is big news. Good for her.
How exciting.
****YAY*****
I remember when I got sworn in!! It was such a proud moment for me.
I bet she is awfully proud also! Its a feeling like not much else.
Good job to your Tia.
Now she can vote!!!!
( My mom also thinks Spanish is the language of heaven also. lol. And mango was the forbidden fruit as it would be more tempting not to eat a mango then not a eat an apple)
Congratulations. She sounds like a wonderful woman, well-deserving of this blessing.
That is wonderful - we have a lovely Ukrainian young woman in our church who was sworn in a couple of weeks ago. I always wonder how long it will be before my Kenyan DIL decides to become a citizen.
Congrats! It is indeed an honor to welcome new citizens. And have you SEEN the citizenship test? Not many "born in the USA's" could pass it without serious studying!
