An Exception

I'm sure I've made it uncomfortably clear what I think about the reality shows pervading our culture today. Disgusting.

*gasp* Did I think that out loud?

Anyway, to every opinion there is an exception. And tonight, as I searched around for how to assemble a soft-cloth pencil/sketch pad cover, I stumbled upon a link for this short video clip while on a rabbit trail.

And it cost me a tissue. It really did.

Because sometimes you only think the door to your dreams has closed tight.

*sniffle, sniffle*

Oh yes...does anyone know where that lady's blog is who makes and sells those cloth-covered sketch pad cases? I thought I bookmarked her but I can't find her on either computer and I've been doing Google searches all afternoon and I'm really discouraged and can't believe that it's so hard to find...

*whimper*

Oh yeah. He is amazing, isn't he? Incredible, natural talent hiding in a humble life. :)

I was just going to direct you to the same Mini Patchfolio lady laura just did.

There is no pattern or tutorial, but I don't know how to read a pattern anyway, I just study the finished project and start cutting away hoping it all comes out right! :) I'm going to make these for some Christmas gifts.

If there is a place that has an actual tutorial, I'd love to here about it!

Yeah, but it's always so much fun when you make something uncomfortably clear, GB. LOL

You're right. Some of these reality shows are becoming pretty slimy. I'm totally embarrassed to admit I'm hooked on two of them.

You're right about most reality shows. But even a broken clock gets the time right twice a day. It's always nice to see good things happen to people that deserve it rather than those who bulldoze their way over others to make it to the top. That was a great story.

I agree on the reality shows - WAY TOO MANY spring up like weeds every year. But I love that story - Linds in England sent it out when he was singing the first time. Amazing voice.

I never watch this show either...but I just now followed your link and absolutely loved this.
In fact, somebody speaking at our church described this a few weeks back and was wanting to show the clip, as a tie in to his topic...but it was wasn't working...so thank you! Now I finally got to see what he was referring to...so very moving!

And I just read your fun post below...loved catching up, and what a cool photo of the pumpkin patch all a blur as the girls go zooming through!

I thought I might see you at the San Antonio Independent Christian Film Festival this past weekend! It would have been lots of fun to meet you in person!

Wow, now, just so you know, I am one tissue poorer as well, thanks to you ;) His voice gave me the chills! But not just because it was so wonderful, which it was, but because those judges expected him to fail and once again, God used 'the foolish of the world' to confound 'the wise of thw world'! God has given this man such a good talent. I wish he's sing Opera about Christ!!

Notebook covers seem such a good idea, why didn't I think of that? Our covers are always falling off around here. They just ca't stay on for too long. Do the covers include little pencil holders and post-it holders, book-mark holders etc? If they do, I want one or want to make one like that(that is, if I had any talent at all whatsoever to do so! Lol!! ;)

I agree with everyone here, if theres a simple pattern for one that even I could do (with a sewing machine) please do link to it or post it, someone out there! :)

Too expensive for all 5 of us! I thought about just taking Fifi, but I'm not sure that's the right crowd for a mother and daughter to be without their father/husband. No offense, but it's kinda true.

That was beautiful. It was absolutely amazing and worth watching. Thanks for linking!

Definitely no offense taken! But I am curious about why you feel that way. Is it because they so strongly advocate the headship of the husband and to come without one would be wrong? I have never been with a group of believers like that before. It left some very strong impressions on me. I'd love your perspective!

Yes, Allison, and to be clear--I advocate the headship of the husband as well. *My* head would not--does not--usually object to me attending events sans him. While safety is usually a factor, propriety certainly is not.

And I also DO NOT believe that Vision Forum, Doug Phillips, et. all would, in any way, refuse me entrance or even officially call it wrong--but I do believe it is in the nature of some individuals with that mindset, grouped together--to stare, question, make assumptions, even quietly judge.

And it's THEIR party, isn't it?

So...when in Rome...

The only reality show I like these days is Extreme Home Makeover. I wish they would show Christians doing these awesome things, but... I love to see those in need receive an amazing home and it always reminds me to be thankful for what I have. It also is a lesson for me to do for other people in Christ's Name.

Everything OK? Haven't heard from you all week...that's kind of unusual. Just checking!

Yes, Brenda...we're good. Thanks for asking--that's very sweet. We're having a very special and busy week in the homeschool!

So beautiful - I knew exactly how he felt when he stood there at the begining looking like he wanted to be anywhere else but there and staying on the stage anyway. And then when the audience got all excited!
