Mirling with Granny

I've seen it said that bloggy friends aren't really friends.

They're wrong.

A week ago Saturday, I met Granny from Welcome to Granny's House at Le Madeline for breakfast, thoroughly enjoyed the Egg Crepe Champignon and the instant friendship that followed a great big, "I haven't seen you in 20 years!" kind of a hug.

It was the kind of greeting that could well convert this life-long hand-shaker to the Texas way: hugging!

Meeting her and sharing with her on a very foundational level--which is to say deeply--was such a blessing. She's the kind of Christian that makes you feel like you could tell her anything. And I kind of did.

But that's another story which will never be a post. Sorry.

And then there was the fringe benefit of being invited to her homeschool support group where I met a roomful of lovely women who about knocked me off my chair, when during introductions, asked me, "You're Grafted Branch, aren't you?"

O.k. That was weird.

But then I recognized some of their blog names too, so it all worked out and I was not entirely alone in this strange, surreal cyberspace-meets-real time place sharing true names behind the monikers and snacking on real cookies.

And with that pathetic pun, I'm going over to check out all the latest news, history, trivia and tidbits with which the sidebars at Granny's place are riddled!

I think all the best bloggie reunions (although I don't know how well the "re" part of that works in this particular situation) happen in Texas... we all need to just move there. Not fair, not fair. ;)

How fun for you! I"ve met 2 and one more to come next month when Barb shows up on my work doorstep. Can't wait! How neat to meet those home schoolers that you didn't even know you would. Too great.

That would be weird! Talk about your reputation preceding you!

Oh how nice you two met! I love the photo. And you're absolutely right about Granny. Her blog is always full of the most amazing commentary on current events and I love her take on it all. Honestly, I think I'd rather visit her than the Fox News or CNN site!

Lucky ladies!

Though, I haven't had a blop meeting in person, how could a friendship not blossom at Le Madeline's! Glad it was such a blessed meeting.
