I Have Questions

  1. When Eve said that the Lord had given her a man with the birth of Cain, did that necessarily preclude the possibility that she had other children before him--even other boys? Couldn't she have been saying the equivilent of, "It's a boy!"
  2. Should the last part of the first question have ended in a question mark? And if so, where should I have put it?
  3. When the scripture says that a friend loves at all times, but that a brother was born for adversity, might that mean that friends tend only to stick around for as long as they're "feeling the love," but that siblings are there through thick and thin? I know my children are learning more about socialization by working a situation all the way through, than I ever did dealing with friends who could just "ditch" me and the conflict, at will.
  4. When in our history did we become conscious of the need for socialization? I can't find it in the Bible.
  5. If man evolved from monkeys, and if man's need for God is a weakness, then why aren't the monkeys the ones building altars?
  6. Was that question unintelligible?
  7. Would Mary have sent Jesus to government school where the leaders and teachers were protected in their choice to be homosexual or Wiccan?
  8. Why are women bent on instructing men? Isn't the tendency to think we know best, part of what got us here in this sad state in the first place?
  9. Are there times when disobedience to God's stated commands is the right thing to do? That's not rhetorical; I'm asking.

It is too early in the morning for me to think this much! I'll come back later to read comments and maybe comment more intelligibly, but wanted to say I LOVE question #5!

Interesting questions! I had never thought of #5 before--good one. Not that I've thought of all the others either ;)

Response to Question #3...some days I think "brother was born for adversity" might be a forewarning to all us moms about the bickering to come (sibling rivalry prep.)LOL...only kidding...things that make you go hmmmmmm.

(((hugs)))

I love when you tell it like it is. In love.

I wonder if one could interpret the brother as being a brother (or sister) in Christ. The Body surely is reborn to stick together through all adversity.

I always love when someone speaks up about women wanting to "lord" over men. We often forget that part of our punishment was to desire to be over our husband and that he would be in charge over us. No one hardly talks about that part. We only hear about pain in childbearing.

And you just reminded me once again why my little one is in Christian school.

:>)

Just had to say that I love #5!! So funny, and a cool way to express it to those who just don't get it!

You have some other really great questions also, I'll have to ponder them more when my brain is clearer!

Well, dear, now I have questions too! :) GB, thank you for getting us to think. I will *attempt* to answer a question, though: #2, I think you would put the ? after the quotes, like this: Couldn't she have been saying the equivilent of, "It's a boy!"? Hmm, yeah, that kind of looks funny. But, I think it goes there.

Ha, way for me to get one question out of the way. Ooo, #8 is a constant conviction for me, but I have gotten SO much better with the Lord's work. Ask my husband. :)

And, I am intrigued about #9. I will be chewing on that one this weekend. :)

Oh how I love being provoked to thought...especially about spiritual things! Let me foolishly attempt to stumble through them for the fun of it...hope you don't mind ;) #1 I want to look at the meaning of the boys names, or were they changed once their characters were recognized? Would the ? go after the closing ""mark?
#3 I would say that someone who only stuck around when feeling the love is not a real friend
4# I guess we all have different meanings of "socialization" and it exists in different contexts...so not sure what exactly you are asking?
5#LOVE THIS
6# Does it make me a monkey if I say it isn't ;P
7# I love homeschooling
8# Yes, I keep reminding myself that Eve was deceived...NOT Adam-he just chose to follow Eve. How often have I led my husband astray with gossip or false counsel?! I can't bear to know.
#9 I believe that God's definitions don't always fit into legal terms because -He is the true discerner of motive. In general, and the Lord knows, people steal because of a sinful heart issue of various sorts...we label that stealing. The Lord looks on the heart. Very difficult question to answer as it runs deep and beyond. I don't believe that situation you referred to is stealing in God's eyes. That being said, one would still have to be willing to pay the price for offending the legal confines of the word. Every day I see more and more just how poor I am in knowledge!

ugh! I had typed a stinking book and then lost it all!

I would love to see others responses to #9. Maybe we could all make an actual post on the issue. :)

Good questions, GB. I plan to come back to #9 after I've studied on it a bit. In light of Numbers 20:10-12, I'm inclined to say no. However, Rahab and her family were spared because she bore false witness to protect the spies in Joshua 2.

Great question for discussion!

A man from our church passed away on Friday night. He was one of the original Elders of our church's congregation and was in his 80s. My parents went over to visit and his wife shared that he said he couldn't wait to get to heaven. He was going to go find the apostle Paul and find out what exactly he meant when he wrote some certain verse. My mom said she always thought of seeing loved ones when she got there, but never of hunting down an apostle to ask a question!
