Slippery Fish
I just cried and cried on the way to dinner this evening. From the back of the van I heard the high-pitched voice of 4-year-old Cuddlebug ask something of 12-year-old Fifi that was so inquisitive and interesting and I just relished it and at the same time knew that someday later I would mourn the lost opportunity to really take it all in, and that it would be gone, and so I cried a little harder because living in the midst of their oh-so-sweet, but sometimes maddeningly messy and demanding childhood is like trying to catch a slippery fish. In the mud. With bears watching and wondering why you're in their river.

An exquisite word picture...and so very true.
wow, yes what an analogy and word picture. these are precious times. thanks for the reminder to soak them all in.
Oh, how I hear you!
And what a great picture. I see why it's a favorite :)
Lots of emotion in this. I so understand. It's almost like you can see the moments passing by. And before you know it, they're walking down aisles and starting their own adult lives. I'm so full of emotion right now it's hard to even describe it.
The blessings and trials of motherhood. Great analogy GB.
So very true. You capture thoughts with words so well. I feel your pain.
Awwww. I hear ya...totally. Just love the sweet pic of your beautiful children and husband.

Oh...this spoke my heart. You are so good at expressing what you are feeling. What a gift.-Heather
What a sweet picture. And what great thoughts. As Grandma, I wish I had a pad or recorder with me at all times to capture the brilliance, sweetness, and curiosity of these little rascals for posterity. I try to write things down, but with my old brain, I forget by the time I get to a pen! Such precious times.
That's a sweet picture... I have 3 boys and that's how I feel sometimes between the mess and the joy of looking at them and listening to their sweet voices and comments... thanks for sharing this...
Oh, sweet mama. I know the feeling - the desperation when you realize minutes are passing that will never come back. I just want to bottle them and use them in my latter years as fragrant, essential oils! :)
Make the minutes into moments, and pray for the best, is all I can say. Soak in the beauty of now... (All of your beloved's are so beautiful, by the way).
(((hugs)))
