They Did What To The 6th Graders?

You know, sometimes I have to remember to cast my cares and take every thought captive to Christ. Sometimes, I worry that in telling my children the hard truth about God's holiness and man's depravity (as He leads, in His timing) I might be unnecessarily scaring them or worrying them over things of which they have no control.

Sometimes I am concerned that my hyper-imaginative protective tendancies are a burden to their whimsy. Sometimes, I'm even tempted to wonder if we're making the right decision in homeschooling the girls. Husband never wonders. Ever. But *shhhhh* my confidence in my own ability to discern the will of God in things like that is not as strong as his. It's good that he is the leader!

Anyway...and then I read something like this, and I am better about it. Much better about it all.

As you know, we educate our children at home. We've had ups and downs like everyone else. I often doubt my competence as the teacher, but I've never doubted the call to home education and stories like the one you linked to are just some of the reasons why.

Does your family "do school" year-round, or do you take the summers off? Just curious.

Whew. Me, too.

I read this a couple of days ago and was shocked. It's horrendous and I told the person who posted this article that I couldn't hire an attorney fast enough if this were done to my child.

I also said and firmly believe this is just one more reason to support home schooling.

It's unimaginable that adults, no matter how ignorant they are, would think this was funny or even remotely acceptable.

Good grief! Even without such stupidity, I don't think sixth graders need to be on overnighters at that age!

I could not have home schooled. I know that. But I do see why. Even more than when my kids were young. I often wondered if Kev's life would have been different if we had, or at least sent him to Christian school. But God is a redeemer God. Praise His Name.

Oh....wow. I had not heard about this. How absolutely horrible and wrong...
Yes, thank you for bringing this news to our attention and reaffirming my own resolve to continue home schooling.

Have a blessed Sunday, GB!

I can't believe this hasn't received more press! Is this for real?

Oh, MY!

Another reason we choose a Christian school. What are they going to do if there is ever a real shooting and the kids don't believe it is real?
My kid would be yanked out of that school. I feel awful for those kids.
