But He Was Not In The...

...homeschooling.
He was not in the family-integrated home-church.
He was not in the full quiver.
He was not in the mission trip.
He was not in the acreage.
He was not in the grain-grinding.
He was not in the bread-baking.
He was not in the modest dress.
He was not in the inductive Bible study.
He was not in the orderly conduct.
He was not in the disciplined prayer life.
Nor was He in any of the other
Virtuous--even profitable
Christian convictions that are
Everyday, lived out
In the lives of those numbered in
The Body of Christ.

He is
The Triune God.
3 Persons. One God.
Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Just as God was not in
The evidences of His power
That moved mountains and stirred the wind,
He is not in the sum total of my convictions,
However good or bad they may be.
He will not be made in my image.

Or yours.
Or his.
Or hers.

He is God-Man-Savior.
He is the great I AM.

So He said, "Go forth and stand on the mountain before the LORD " And behold, the LORD was passing by! And a great and strong wind was rending the mountains and breaking in pieces the rocks before the LORD; but the LORD was not in the wind. And after the wind an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake.

After the earthquake a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire; and after the fire a sound of a gentle blowing.

When Elijah heard it, he wrapped his face in his mantle and went out and stood in the entrance of the cave And behold, a voice came to him...

Oh.

How often I try to squish Him in my little box with me - "Come on, God, there's room!"

So so convicting.

Amen

LOVE THIS POST!!!

This is the first time I've visited your blog, and the first post I read is one that speaks so deeply to my heart. This is my favorite passage in the Bible, in fact, I wrote a post about it on my blog not too long ago!! How beautiful this entire post was. Thank you for sharing it with anyone who happens by, like I did. :)

Thank you for stopping by and taking the time to leave a comment this morning. Your post is thought provoking and gives a needed focus. As much as we'd like to think at times that it's "all about me".... it's not. When I sing in the "Key of Me"...it usually makes for a pretty sad song! Blessings, Diane

This is totally saying what has been on my heart for so long now. We can so easily make idols of even the "good" works God has before ordained that we should walk in. I'm really in awe of what was written here; a good encouragement to look to Him.

How is it that I've never read this post? I'm rather speechless so I'll just say "Amen!" and sign off. God Bless you, GB. He has blessed you to see the big picture.
