But Daddy took the day off, and took us all to Le Madeline for breakfast. Upon finding out that there was a birthday girl at the table, the Manager gave Dumpling her choice of a free treat at the bakery. She chose strawberry cheesecake, and has left half of it in the fridge since. Lots of rough edges -- nobody would ever know if I just swiped a little taste. But no. Thou shalt not steal. Ugh.
Fifi set a beautiful tiara on her little sister's head, and Cuddlebug opted for a gift of candy. Candy enough to share, of course.
And then we took her shopping for a kitten.
It's been a long time since I held a kitten. I'd forgotten how much I like them. I've spent the past two days wishing the girls into bed early so I could have a few minutes with him. They're kind of "piggy" with the kitty you know.
Dumpling has named him, "Little John."

Quiet family celebrations can be the best. Sounds like a great birthday. Cute kitten!
Happy Birthday Dumpling! I don't blame you one bit for swiping bites of that cheesecake. I'd be tempted to eat the whole thing and tell her it went bad. :-)
Awwww. What a cutie!
I sometimes miss the days when our "boys" were kittens. Today is one of those days. :)
How sweet! I love the picture of the kitten and beagle.
Keep your kitten (they grow up to be cats, which I do not like), let me in on the LeMadeline action! MmmMMMmm!
Oh, I love that last picture! Too cute! Happy Birthday Dumpling!
happy birthday Dumpling.
Enjoy your little kitty he's so sweet.
Love and hugs to your Mummy.
What a wonderful day. I'm happy you got a new kitten. I linked to the story of the old one. How sad. I'm not even a cat peson, and it made me sad. I'm glad you got a new one.
Sounds perfectly delightful! Those pictures *almost* make me wish I weren't terribly allergic to kitties! :)
Oh, I'm sure she absolutely loves her new kitten! What a cutie!
It sounds like the perfect birthday!
First of all, happy birthday, Dumpling. May the grace and favor of the Lord follow you everywhere you go.
Second, thank you so much for your kind words, Grafted. We mamas of huge babies need to stick together. ;) I look forward to reading more of your posts. Hope you don't mind if I place you on my frequent reading list.
