Converging

I try not to be one of those hyper-scheduled mothers. I do. You know the ones; they're too busy to call, too busy to drop a line, too busy to help, too busy to be available, too busy, too busy, too busy!

But somehow between my own Baroque ensemble and the Board on which I serve, Fifi's demanding orchestral schedule and now my commitment to sew 9 little costumes for Dumpling's Davidic dance class and recital -- I've become one of those mothers -- but really only for a 2 week period; it seems that everything is converging and climaxing in this short space of time.

Last week we enjoyed a Seder dinner with new friends from the orchestra. What a blessing and a treasure it is to experience and learn about the Feasts, even if it does mean taking off my shoes for the Davidic dance before seeing my way clear for a pedicure. Oh, who am I kidding? I haven't had pretty, painted toes since Fifi was 5-weeks old. At least not that I recollect. And if I don't recollect it, it doesn't count.

It was also performance week for the girls' orchestra and choirs. Thursday night they performed at a local community center before a full house of family and friends. The orchestral program consisted of Via Dolorosa, Handel's Amen Chorus from Messiah and Handel's Presto -- and it all went well (if not a little too fast on Presto).

Dumpling sang with the intermediate choir even though she was desperately intimidated by the young lady who directed it and would have enjoyed her first musical experience much more if she could have been in the Kinder-music class with Cuddlebug. That class was delicious fun until they had to buckle down and get all serious about appearances and performances; they were adorable on stage though, singing Jesus Loves Me and The Best Thing In My Life I Ever Did Do.

The dessert reception was delightful, and we were a little stunned and humbled to find that a couple of families from church that we barely know yet, came just because we invited them! So kind; we are grateful.

Saturday night saw South Texas in a freak cold snap with rain and temps in the mid-30s. But the show must go on! Husband took Fifi to the performance at a lakeside campground and the show was even better the second time around. The younger class performances were canceled, so Dumpling, Cuddlebug and I stayed home.

*sigh* I should be sewing. I've 5 more little shirts to complete before lunch tomorrow.

I should have been practicing my new Bach and Buxtehude when I was sewing the first 4 little shirts and 9 circle skirts.

I never did get around to coloring eggs this season with the girls. Or making cookies. Or shopping for bonnets and gloves.

But we did do our indoor Resurrection Egg hunt and we read from His Word the Resurrection story to little girls with intense eyes and quiet hearts. Our favorite part was when Jesus said, "Mary," and she recognized His voice and suddenly *gasp* knew who it was with whom she had been speaking -- that it was not the gardener after all.

Isn't Jesus good? Never has the peace of such profound love -- albeit invisible -- so completely overwhelmed and enveloped me as does His love when I ponder all He did for me.

I just wrote a response highlighting the stuff going on around here for the next 4 weeks. Then I started to cry, so I erased it.

Come on, May

The verse in your previous post has become so real to me this Easter season. To think that He was always planning for US so many eons ago. What a thought!

Where are those handmaids!?

Why, they are at the Waffle House because I never arise early enough to feed them.
