I have some pretty strong opinions about a few things.
But I've also mellowed over the years. Believe it or not.
As I've moved through my 30s and am fast approaching the next milestone, I've found it helpful to employ a spiritual litmus test for the many controversial or provocative issues that I'm called to discern in my own life. Before I dare to think more highly of one of my opinions than I ought, I ask myself, "Is there any chance -- any chance at all -- that when I get to Heaven I'll find out I was wrong?"
If I can answer, "yes," then I try to shut up.
So now, I've found that I shut up pretty well about all kinds of things ranging from modes of baptism to music choices; from hairstyles to pants-on-women.
It doesn't mean I won't still have a strong opinion, but it does mean that others will be spared from having to hear it as an extra-biblical truth.
Having said that, I also believe that every Christian father and mother (or father...or mother, as circumstances dictate) should thoughtfully, carefully and prayerfully make choices for themselves and their families; and once that is done, they should walk in the full confidence that they are doing the Lord's will for them, to the very best of their ability.
Because, after all, if God is for us, who can be against us?
The next post down is unapologetically reflective of one of my strong opinions. It's not a biblical Truth on par with...say...there is but one mediator between God and man -- the Lord Jesus Christ. And it probably shouldn't be read by anyone who has any doubt about their own educational choices for their children. Or maybe it should...
But if you feel defensive, don't post your letters here...they should be addressed, postage-paid by the Recipient, to the Lord Jesus Christ. He is the only One Who will judge.

I'm hanging on the edge of my keyboard...
This is why I adore you, GB.
I love the way you say prayerfully make the decision and then walk in confidence. That's the part I'm missing. I talk a decision to death then make the move. As soon as conflict or trial comes my way I begin to second guess the whole thing!
Walk in confidence. But first, be prayerful. Yes.
So good, and so welcome to my heart today.
Verythought-provoking words today!
Thank you for stopping by my Deliverance post. Did you get to read Kevin's? I don't feel so bad now about not knowing what was going on!
Your home schooling reasons are really good ones. I sometimes wonder if I might take on this challenge. Thanks for visiting my art blog. I don't publish comments there, but I'm so glad you sent one to me.
