If You Give A Sinner The Scripture...

If you give a sinner the Scripture,
She might read it.

And if she reads it,
She's going to discover how high the
Standard of God's Holiness.

And when she wraps her mind around His standard,
She will know her need for God's grace.

Of course, He will answer her with the
Baptism of His Spirit and
Acceptance of His Son.

And she will be secure in her salvation,
And will be led of His Spirit
To search His Word and
Study His ways.

And when she learns more about His ways,
She will want to keep them,
And she will hope to please Him.

And she will work hard to obey Him in all things.

She might even feel sure enough about these matters
To exhort others to obey Him too.

She will rebuke the liar,
feeling confident that she never would speak an untruth.

And scoff at he who covets,
Because she does not know hardship or pain.

She will quickly find fault with he who murders,
Having never been forced to defend herself.

She will condemn in her heart, the one who makes and idol
And bows the knee to it.

And then the Lord will chasten her.

And when the Lord chastens her,
She will hear her own tongue speak lies;
And her stomach will covet another's provision;
She will realize that she would not hesitate to
Kill the one who tries to harm her children.

And when she is disciplined in all these things,
She will be grieved to see that she has set
His Holy Ways
As an idol before which she has bowed the knee.

And when it dawns on her that she has
Made an idol of His Ways,
And that she is hopeless to live righteously
In this flesh
And amongst this flesh,

She will recognize afresh,
Her need for God's grace.

And when her heart senses its want,
She will seek the face of her Saviour,

And if she seeks the face of her Saviour,
You know...

She's going to need a copy of the Scripture.
