This nativity was made by Husband's uncle on his father's side. He is a folk artist in the Mexican tradition. There was a lot of baggage on Grandpa Johnny's side of the family that we didn't understand until after his death over a decade ago. This uncle was his youngest brother and the only one with which he kept contact. Sadly, we've lost touch with him now.
But we will remember him and pray for him this season because his work adorns our home in a most prominent and delightful way. So...yes...Jesus, Mary and Joseph probably weren't Mexican, but they weren't European either!
I'm so moved and blessed to possess these simple, colorful reminders of that glorious night.
God, please bless Henry today. Meet his every need wherever he may be. Fill any empty spaces with the love of Your Son.

That is a beautiful nativity! How special!
That is the cutest nativity I have seen in a long time. (You can't get that at Walmart!)
What a treasure :)
What a beautiful, unique, and very special Nativity to be a part of your family from now on!
I love how you used this gift as a moment to bring him before the Lord. May we all remember to do that when we are reminded of someone!
It is such a cute little scene! And I have the same star basket in the background!
I like that nativity scene. Because of the bright colors and because of the lovely story behind it. And yours even has a star on it!
That is absolutely beautiful. I love Mexican artisans. I love the vibrant colors they use. Thanks for sharing! What a treasure.
I love it!! It is just wonderful. I am so glad you have it.
I've missed a couple of days. The party sounds fabulous - the houses are adorable.
It jumped out at me, Grafted Branch. I love, love this. How blessed you and your family are to receive this. I'll pray for him, too.
This is beyond wonderful.
GB - this is beautiful. I really enjoy hand-crafted nativity scenes - especially if they are made by family.
This is a really cheerful Nativity set. Thank you for posting your photos of this family treasure. Feliz Navidad!
