Thursday Thirteen: Homeschool Helps

13 things for which I am very thankful. Each is a great help to me in my efforts to home-educate myself and my girls:
  1. Community Bible Study or Bible Study Fellowship for the experienced direction each gives me in my pursuit of the mind of Christ. This year, I'm especially thankful for CBS because they offer a place to all three of my homeschoolers.
  2. My husband's desire and support that his children be educated here, by me.
  3. The means to purchase resources that do well to compensate for my lack of experience.
  4. My good health to do the job.
  5. Steve Demme of Math U See.
  6. History curricula like Sonlight, Truthquest and The Mystery of History.
  7. Charlotte Mason, Karen Andreola, and Catherine Levinson.
  8. Creation Science Institute.
  9. Millions of books available on every subject, for every age, by talented authors.
  10. Ben Franklin, who conceived the public library system. Nevermind whoever else he may have conceived!
  11. Tax payers who support the public library system.
  12. Local librarians that invite me to shop for my books online, put them on hold -- 20 at a time, per card -- and pull them from the shelves for me so that I just walk in, grab them, check them out and go! Excellent -- especially when you've got 3 whirly birds who love to read and a list of 25 history-related books to look up.
  13. The internet -- a blessing and a curse.

Great list! I'd be scouring it for useful treasures if I had kids to homeschool. My mom homeschooled me for my three years of high school. She had me read "The Light and the Glory" for American History and I loved it! I was never a big fan of studying history, but that book rocked! And I learned something besides! ;)

Very good list. I would love to school my daughter, but it won't be in the cards for us. However, it is good to be thankful for those things that we can do because they really matter to us!

Say, that gal above me who commented - Geekwif? She's my bestfriend and the Godmother of my little girl. Plus she completely rocks. Just thought I'd say that since I see we visited the same site...
