A Novel Idea

I've been tagged by my cyberfriend, Brenda in this post over at Rainbows and Rocking Chairs for a meme about writing ideas. The game started over here, and asks:

If you could write a novel about any subject, what would it be?
(Just the subject–don’t give away your plot idea!)

So, here it goes...

I would like to find a coherent way to write about what's going on inside the head of a woman with dementia or Alzheimer's. It would not be tragic, but to the contrary -- sweet and whimsical as she gets to relive the most wonderful, playful and meaningful time in her life: her children's young years. The contrast between her happiness and the frustration of her caregivers who are trapped in reality would be profound.

What if the life I'm leading right now is a repeat of what I've already been through? What if it's like a dream in which occasionally and randomly, elements of memory and real life collide: intersect? What if the 90-year old me is really hearing my grown children calling my name at my bedside, but in my head I'm responding to 4-year old Cuddlebug who needs help in the bathroom? And I can't tell the difference.

I just don't know how to get it on paper. And I don't have time. Or maybe I don't remember how. ;)

I tag: Sarah, HeartsDesire, Melissa, KPJara and YOU! If you haven't done this one already.

ok...i'll think about it today. check dablaaahg later.

But I think your story sounds like a great book! And Movie! And Broadway Play! I think you could go to the top with that one! Very Twilight Zone/Woody Allen inspired.

I would totally read this book. What a wonderful idea.

I'll do my post tomorrow, thanks for the tag. You know how I love books and all things bookish.

You've been in my prayers and on my heart a lot lately! I hope all is well.

Wow! I wish you could figure out how to write it. This is a book that would FLY off the shelves. My mother is a nurse specializing in the care of Altzeimer's patients. I wonder all the time how their poor minds are working.

Please write this book. My MIL was diagnosed with Alzheimer's a couple of years ago. I think what you would write would be a hopeful thing.
