It Might Be Time To Get Serious About Weight Loss...

...when you gasp at the sight of yourself in pictures -- still -- after all these years.

...when you can't sit down while your children play with the train set in the children's section of Barnes & Noble -- because your hips won't fit in the chair.

...when you can wear your husband's drawstring shorts, and you don't need to draw the string.

...when the complimentary shower towels at the gym fit you like a hand towel.

...when, in your mid 30s, you're seeing a cardiologist semi-annually because your cholesterol level is 15% higher than the high side of normal.

...when your mother -- who was always known as pretty plump -- sends you a photo of herself at your same age, and she is clearly thinner than you!

...when your daughter's little friend tells her that her mommy is fat.

...and your daughter is embarrassed as she defends you, "My mommy is not fat!"

...and she doesn't want you to know; it slips out through the littler sister.

...when you meditate on the scripture that says you reap what you sow.

You do not seriously wear your hubby's pants, right? That's too funny. Losing weight has got to be one of the hardest things in the world to do. Back when I had a metabolism it seemed easy. Not so much any more!

I wandered over from Jeana's blog regarding patience with others' educational decisions.

I love this post! I have spent the last 2 years "getting serious" about the whole weight loss stuff since it wasn't just falling off by itself! Fun blog!

Oh, I can SO relate! I use to always be thin and now...well, my metabolism is just not coorperating!
I think it's time I get serious, too...right there with you!

I can so relate to this. I do need to loose about 33lb. I will find it easier on my back, and for throwing and working generaly I do so need a healthy back. Not to mention any other possible health issues.
This weekend with my visit to the pool has show me how much I miss doing my swimming.
PS we are having such a great time, and we are going to church tomorrow and there will be a christening of twin baby girls - Ahh how special!

You are NOT fat. If you think you need to lower your cholesterol or whatever fine, but you are NOT fat!

My metabolism isn't what it used to be either. I've always heard that the magic age is 25, when all the junk food you've eaten in your youth catches up with you, but I'm convinced it's 37. That's when I started noticing a difference. Never thought I'd aspire to be a loser!

I need to get back at it myself. I am not happy with myself right now. When your grandchild (4 years old) rubs your arms and says, "Fat, Fat," you know it's time! I used to think I was overweight in high school - I look at pictures and can't believe I had that mindset back then. Really sad.
