Fingers and Toes, Beauty and Bows

I decided to stop being so "wound-up-tight" with my "puppies," and see what happens -- well, I'm trying anyway. This week, Two discovered her own brand of nail polish and Three -- ever observant -- followed right along. It looked sooooo awful (of course I didn't tell them that!) and threatened to get all over everything because it was, afterall, washable marker. Ugh.

But these little girls are oblivious to that, as well they should be. They just want to feel beautiful. That need must be inherent in girls, because it is not something taught or even nurtured around here. On the rare occasion when they have shown me their need to be validated as pretty (Three just comes right out and asks, "Mommy? Am I pretty?"), I tell them yes, and that because God did bless them fair of face, they'll have to work extra hard to overcome that as being the quality for which people remember them. I want them to know how fleeting beauty is, and of how little concern it is to the Lord -- not necessarily in that order. In the meantime though, I haven't the heart to tell Three that those bows don't match, and are nearly as big as her head!

So here is the work of the little hands today -- all over their hands. Oh! And toes too!

Hey at one point, my girls decided that white out had a brush just like fingernail polish. Guess what that looked like.

GB, remind me to tell you about "Mommy Dates" sometime.

Yep, my boys used those markers as "indian war-paint" one day...so ALL over their faces! AGH! But they had fun, and I did too, watching them, after I got over the shock of the mess that they were! :-)
Oh, and btw, in my last post, it's actually my moms parents. But there is some resemblance of my dad......I guess. :-)
And Yes, it was a great memorable day.

Eek! Really Abs? Your Mom's parents? That's too funny, and a little embarrassing. Well, you know they say that after a couple has been together long enough, they start to look like one another...

Wow Joy, do they still make white out? I'm sure it lacked "sparkle." Do tell about Mommy Dates -- either a good post topic or feel free to be lengthy here in my comments.
