Garden Grunts

Well, it is clear that the temperature isn't going to go anywhere but up from here until next Christmas! So, Daddy and the girls enjoyed their traditional blue corn-meal pancake breakfast, cleaned up their mess, skipped the Looney Tunes and made it outside about mid-morning to plant their garden. It was already warm, but they were committed! They sowed a feast of zucchini, eggplant, tomato, cantelope, strawberry and watermelon. This is Husband's project with them -- whew! One less thing for me to try and learn on the job. A couple of seasons down the line, it will be fun for the girls to mentor me in the art and science of gardening. Until then, I have lots of other learning on the job to do...

One thing I'm already pretty good at, to everyone's chagrin, is worrying. I like to call it discretion -- as in thinking ahead. In this case I'm fast-forwarding 20 years to a melanoma diagnosis. "It's crazy bright out here, girls! Go get your hats on."
